Specialist Services for
the Modern Home
Nexura delivers many specialist services: insulation-removal, insulation, roofing, solar PV, battery storage, and air source heat pumps. Each is available as a standalone installation. When combined, they deliver a complete, high-performance energy upgrade with no compromises at any stage.
Insulation Removal
The Clean Start
The UK retrofit industry has a insulation-removal problem. Most contractors install over the top of degraded, damp, or failing materials because it's faster and cheaper. The result is a glossy new surface concealing an active problem, one that will undermine the new installation within three to five years.
Nexura starts differently. Before any new material goes in, we conduct a full structural survey and remove everything that doesn't meet our standard. That means degraded insulation, wet batting, failed vapour barriers, bridged cavities, and any materials showing signs of mould or moisture ingress.
Our operatives document every step photographically. You will receive a full photographic record of your property's condition before work began and at every stage of the insulation-removal. This isn't just quality assurance. It's the basis of your 12-month guarantee.
What's included
- Full pre-works structural and moisture survey
- Removal of all failed insulation materials (walls, loft, floor)
- Treatment of identified damp and mould issues
- Disposal of removed materials to approved waste facilities
- Photographic documentation throughout
- Pre-works EPC assessment and post-retrofit projection
- Written condition report issued to client
Insulation
The Seal
Insulation is the single highest-impact measure in any retrofit. A well-insulated home requires significantly less energy to heat, retains warmth longer, and performs more predictably throughout the seasons. Poorly installed insulation, by contrast, can cause condensation problems, structural damage, and accelerated material degradation.
We install insulation to walls, floors, and lofts using materials and methods certified to current Building Regulations and PAS 2030/2035. Every cavity is filled without bridges. Every junction is treated. Every penetration is sealed. We don't leave gaps on the basis that they're small, as thermal bridging compounds over time.
Our specification process takes into account your property's construction type, existing moisture levels, and planned solar installation. Insulation decisions are made in the context of the full retrofit, not in isolation.
What's included
- Full-fill or partial-fill cavity wall insulation (where applicable)
- Loft and roof insulation to current Building Regulations standards
- Underfloor insulation (suspended timber or solid floor)
- Internal wall insulation where cavity fill is not possible
- Thermal bridge treatment at all junctions and penetrations
- Vapour control layer installation and sealing
- Post-installation air pressure testing and thermal imaging (optional)
Roofing
The Shield
A solar installation is only as good as the roof it sits on. This is a lesson many installers ignore and many homeowners learn too late, when a roof section fails two years after panels were fitted and the remedial cost falls entirely on the homeowner.
Nexura assesses and upgrades roof structure before any solar specification is finalised. We repair or replace failing sections, upgrade felt and battens where required, and ensure the structural load capacity is adequate for the panel array planned. Every roof we touch is built to outlast the installation above it.
For flat roofs, we apply high-performance waterproofing systems that integrate with any solar mounting solution. For pitched roofs, we assess rafter condition, replace defective tiles, and install solar-ready mounting points as standard, so there is no need to disturb the roof again when panels go on.
What's included
- Full structural roof survey including rafter and joist assessment
- Repair or replacement of failed, cracked, or slipped tiles
- Underlay and batten replacement where degraded
- Flat roof waterproofing system (GRP, EPDM, or hot melt)
- Solar-ready mounting rail installation as standard
- Ridge, hip, and valley resetting where required
- Lead and flashing work at chimney stacks and roof penetrations
- Fascia, soffit, and guttering inspection and replacement
Solar
The Power
The UK solar market has matured significantly. Panel efficiency has improved, prices have fallen, and the case for solar on a UK roof is now compelling at almost every orientation. But a well-specified system on a well-prepared roof outperforms a poorly specified system on any roof, every time.
Our solar installations are MCS-accredited and designed using site-specific data: real irradiance figures, shading analysis, and consumption modelling, not industry averages. We specify the right number of panels at the right wattage for your roof, your usage, and your battery ambitions.
Installation is carried out to the highest standard. No exposed cabling on the roof surface. No penetrations through the waterproofing membrane. No improvised mounting solutions. The finished installation should look like it was designed with the roof, because it was.
What's included
- Site-specific solar irradiance and shading analysis
- System design and specification (panel count, wattage, inverter type)
- MCS-accredited installation by qualified electricians
- String or micro-inverter options depending on roof configuration
- Smart monitoring system with app-based generation tracking
- Grid connection notification to DNO (Distribution Network Operator)
- SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) application support
- Full MCS certificate and warranty documentation
Battery Storage
The Independence
Solar generation peaks at midday. Household consumption peaks in the morning and evening. Without battery storage, the surplus energy your panels generate during the day goes back to the grid at wholesale rates (typically 4–6p per unit), while you buy it back in the evening at 24–30p. Battery storage closes that gap.
We design battery systems around your actual consumption profile, not a theoretical one. Our energy monitoring assessment, carried out during the survey stage, gives us real data on when you use energy and how much. From this, we specify a battery with the right capacity, not the largest capacity available.
All battery installations are carried out by qualified electricians and integrated with your solar inverter and smart home energy management system. You'll be able to monitor generation, consumption, grid import, and battery state in real time from a single app.
What's included
- Consumption profile assessment and battery sizing calculation
- Supply and installation of battery system (capacity to spec)
- Integration with existing or new solar inverter
- Smart energy management system configuration
- Octopus Agile / time-of-use tariff optimisation setup
- App-based monitoring: generation, consumption, battery, export
- G99 grid connection application where required
- Full electrical certification and warranty documentation
Cavity Wall Insulation
Seal the Walls
Cavity wall insulation is one of the most cost-effective measures available for UK homes built after 1920. An uninsulated cavity loses a significant proportion of a home's heat through the external walls; insulating it correctly reduces heat loss, lowers energy bills, and improves the property's EPC rating.
Nexura assesses every property before recommending a fill material. We check for existing cavity obstructions, wall ties, moisture exposure, and construction type. Where the cavity is suitable, we inject certified insulation under controlled conditions using accredited equipment. Where it isn't, we specify an alternative: internal wall insulation or external cladding, rather than proceeding with a solution that won't perform.
Our installation teams are fully accredited under PAS 2030 and CIGA-registered. Every job is followed by a post-installation inspection and covered by a 12-month guarantee on workmanship.
What's included
- Pre-installation cavity wall survey and suitability assessment
- Moisture and wall tie inspection
- Injection of certified cavity fill material (bead, mineral wool, or foam)
- Reinstatement of drill holes to a clean finish
- Post-installation inspection and documentation
- CIGA-backed guarantee certificate
- Pre- and post-installation EPC projection
Air Source Heat Pumps
The Clean Heat
Gas boilers are being phased out. The replacement, when correctly specified and installed, is the air source heat pump. But most ASHP installations underperform because the home was never assessed before the unit went on the wall. Nexura starts differently: with the building.
We carry out a full heat loss calculation before any equipment is specified. If the fabric of the home has issues such as failing insulation, damp walls, or undersized emitters, we address these first. The result is a heat pump that delivers the warmth it was designed to, at the efficiency it was designed for.
When combined with solar and battery storage, your ASHP becomes part of a self-sustaining energy system, generating, storing, and consuming heat at near-zero cost during peak solar hours.
What's included
- Full heat loss calculation and ASHP system sizing report
- MCS-accredited ASHP supply and installation
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant application and management (£7,500)
- Solar diversion setup. Surplus generation diverted to hot water cylinder
- Radiator and emitter assessment, upgrades where required
- Underfloor heating installation where specified
- Hot water cylinder supply and installation
- Smart thermostat installation and configuration
- 12-month performance monitoring and flow temperature optimisation
- Full MCS certification and handover documentation
How Nexura Delivers Heat Pumps Differently
Solar-to-Pump Integration
We design your solar and heat pump as a single system. During peak generation hours, surplus solar output is automatically diverted to the heat pump's hot water cylinder, cutting your heating cost to near zero. You're not buying a heater; you're buying a net-zero heating system that generates its own fuel.
Fabric-First Assessment
Every ASHP installation begins with a full heat loss calculation. If your home has failing insulation, damp walls, or thermal bridges, we address the building fabric before the pump goes in. This prevents the most common heat pump complaint of insufficient warmth, ensuring the home can hold heat before we install a system designed to deliver it.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme Management
The UK government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a £7,500 grant toward ASHP installation. Nexura manages the entire process: application, MCS compliance documentation, and voucher redemption. You receive the grant benefit without the administrative burden. Especially valuable for landlords managing multiple properties.
Emitter & Radiator Upgrades
Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures than gas boilers. Existing radiators sized for 70–80°C will underperform at a heat pump's 35–55°C output. We assess every emitter in the property and upgrade undersized radiators or install underfloor heating circuits where required, one contractor, one install, no coordination between trades.
12-Month Performance Monitoring
Most heat pumps run on default settings that were never optimised for the specific property. Our 12-month monitoring service uses smart thermostats and energy tracking to continuously refine flow temperatures and schedules, lowering bills, extending equipment life, and building an audit trail that supports any future warranty claim.
The Building Detox Protocol
Most contractors insulate over damp, mould, and failing materials. Our Building Detox protocol strips everything back to the structure so your retrofit is built on solid foundations, not hidden problems.
The UK has millions of homes where insulation was installed in the 1980s and 1990s without adequate vapour control or moisture management. That insulation has been absorbing moisture for thirty years. Installing new materials on top of it doesn't solve the problem. It accelerates it by reducing the wall's ability to dry out.
On any job involving insulation or internal works, the Detox protocol applies. We survey, strip, treat, and document before anything new goes in. It's how we guarantee the quality of what comes after, regardless of whether you're booking one service or five.
